A BIG Charity Classic THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to all of the members who helped support our 1st annual Polar Bear Open as part of our annual Charity Classic.  Being it was sunny and in the 40's, it was a little warm for a "Polar Bear" event, but the weather helped increase the size of the field and helped raise over $5,000.

The three charities that benefit from your support are locally, Long Island Cares "The Harry Chapin Food Bank" and our two national charities, the ClubCorp Employee Partner's Care Foundation and MDA Augie's Quest helping to find a cure for ALS.

A special thanks goes out to the members who came out to watch my ALS "Ice Bucket Challege" and also for the wonderful support and donations that were raised on the spur of the moment for my "Polar Bear Plunge" into the lake.  I like to think it was a momentary lapse of reason that made me dive into the 40 degree water, but all in all, we managed to raise an additional $440 in 2 minutes.  It was well worth the momentary full body numbness that ensued.

Congratulations to our winning team of Christine Yi and Mike D'Aconti whose winning net total of 73 was one shot better than the pair's of Eric Kuo / Ray Cornell and Robert Kelly / Richie Scores.  Please check out the Hamlet Facebook page for more photos of this fun event.  We look forward to seeing more of you next season at the 2nd annual Polar Bear Open.
