Snow has finally come to Long Island. We hope that everyone stayed safe during our recent storm and if possible, got a much needed snow day to spend time with family and friends. Obviously, their will be no golf at the Hamlet as we expect the snow to remain on the golf course for a good period of time. On a positive note, at this time of year, the snow is perfect for the golf course.
A benefit of having snow cover on the golf course is that it provides a nice warm blanket for the turf. Mostly the temperature never drops below or rises above 32F while it is under a nice snow cover. Although still on the cold side for grass, the turf can sustain these temperatures quite nicely, as opposed to the extreme lows that we tend to see during these winter months.
Although the golf course and driving range will be closed, the golf pro shop will remain open Tuesday ~ Sunday from 8am - 4pm. Please let us know if you need anything for your winter travels, to place an order for a new club or to replensish your supply of golf balls before your next trip.
