This past weekend, The Hamlet hosted the 4th annual member guest event, The Tradition. The event kicked off Thursday night with a pairings party and a "mid-night" putting contest. 94 Members and guests began play Friday morning with 27 holes of round robin 9 hole matches followed by a very memorable pool party for all the participants and their spouses.
Saturday's play featured 18 holes of golf for the remaining 2 matches. When the 5 preliminary 9 hole matches were completed, all 8 flight winners, plus 1 team advancing from the "Group of Life" continued play in a shoot-out style playoff to determine the overall winner. The teams played an alternate shot format starting on the 14th hole in an effort to narrow the field of 9 teams down to 3.
On the first playoff hole, the team of Steve Neary and Ricardo Benevides advanced to the next hole with a par while 6 other teams tied and had to playoff for the remaining 2 spots. After the chip-off, it was the teams of John Simone & Mike Azzolini and Richie Eisner & David Perlmutter who advanced to the next hole where it was the team of Simone / Azzolini who failed to advance to the final hole after play on the 15th hole.
In front of a large crowd of members, guests and staff, it was ultimately the team of Neary and Benevides who navigated the 16th hole with a par to win the title.
