Carl & Richie Simone accepting their champions swords |
The event kicked off Thursday afternoon with practice rounds for our players followed by our traditional Stag night pairings party. Our largest field ever began play Friday morning with 27 holes consisting of three 9 hole matches. Later that evening, all members, guests and their spouses were treated to a very memorable pool party with great food and dancing late into the night.
On Saturday morning, play resumed with two additional 9 hole matches to determine the flight winners that would go on to compete in the 4 hole Shoot-Out. When the 12 flight winners were determined, the shoot-out began on the par 3, 13th hole in a team alternate shot format where 5 teams were eliminated allowing the remaining 7 teams to advanced to the par 4, 14th hole.

On the 14th hole, 4 additional teams were eliminated leaving the member / guest teams of Jeff Gallo & Robert Rusche, Ken Kirk & Gary Bromke and Carl Simone & Richie Simone to advance to play on the par 5, 15th hole where it was the team of Gallo & Rusche that were eliminated.
On the 16th and final hole both remaining teams found a bit of trouble off the tee that ultimately left both teams with 10 foot putts for a chance at the win. In the end, it was Carl Simone who calmly stepped up and knocked in the downhill left to right putt for the victory in front of a large crowd of over 100 members and guests. It was a terrific ending to another great member guest weekend.
A special congratulations also goes out to Carl's brother Richie who earlier in the day, had a hole-in-one on the par 3, 13th hole. Perhaps it was fate that the hole-in-one would come on the same hole that the shoot-out would begin only hours later.
Thank you to all of our members and guests for supporting this wonderful event and once again, help make it a tremendous success. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2017!
