Golf Course Not Ready To Open

Picture of the 11th Green Early Friday Morning

When we look ahead to the weekend forecast and we see that we may have a few hours of the day in the mid 40's, it is hard not to get excited and think that winter is behind us.  It's hard not to, our members are passionate about their golf.

But the golf course needs a lot more time to recover from the past month of about 30" of snow, recent sub zero temps and quite a bit more rain.  The picture above was taken this morning and we have many other areas of the course just like it.

Overall the course is still about 15% snow covered.  We see this in many areas that are north facing and with the majority of the day in the shade.  We need to allow the snow to finish melting and then allow time for the course to dry out before our staff can get out there and prepare the course.  But as long as evening temps keep dipping into the 20's at night, the frost line isn't going anywhere and unfortunately, neither is the water that is sitting on top of the turf.

We expect another rain / sleet / snow event Tuesday & Wednesday of this upcoming week so a definitive opening date is not certain.  Although we always try and provide every opportunity for our members to have access to play golf, at this time of year, the protection and care of the golf course comes first.  Please continue to call the golf shop for further updates.
